Sweating the silence all in a row
Eyes strait ahead, never to or fro
The rocks hiss, the heat consumes
Yet naked we sit in this small wooden room
A cultural practice, some say an art
With a jump in the lake it’s good for the heart
I follow along, and plunge through a hole in the ice
And these crazy Finns tell me this should feel nice!
My muscles seize, my thoughts go blank
I’m desperate to escape this cruel and evil prank
Back in the sauna my skin tingling and tight
I have yet to learn the ropes of this Finnish birth-right
